This series of portraits are interpreted from famous woodcuts or etchings and made into panel paintings that portray these characters as icons. Each portrait includes a coat of arms which convey their nationality and history. A large timeline will also accompany the work. The project aims to not only work as a gallery installation, but extend to public art. Like the same celebrity on the cover of many tabloids, I would like to present these eleven pirates as icons through repeated imagery and simple graphics.
